The Bharat International Film Festival (BIFF) was established in memory of Samrat Ashoka, one of India’s greatest emperors and the first ruler to spread Buddhism across the world. After the Kalinga War, Ashoka chose the path of peace, non-violence, compassion, and equality, uniting people through moral values and humanity. He is believed to have built 84,000 Buddhist stupas and statues worldwide.
Following his vision, BIFF supports films that promote peace, social awareness, humanity, and positive change. Every year, the festival felicitates 100 films from across the globe, with a long-term goal of honouring 84,000 films worldwide, carrying forward Samrat Ashoka’s dream through the powerful medium of cinema.
