Dhruvee Haldankar on Reinvention, Digital Storytelling and Writing a New Chapter

Mumbai: Actor Dhruvee Haldankar believes in evolving with the times — but on her own terms. Having built a career that spans on journalism, anchoring and television shows , she is now stepping into a new phase of an author.

Dhruvee was last seen in Pyar Ke Saath Vachan Dharam Patni, produced by Ekta Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Telefilms and aired on Colors TV. The show marked one of her significant television projects. However, she admits that the rapidly shifting landscape of entertainment prompted her to reflect deeply on her choices.

“After a lot of contemplating, I realised television has evolved tremendously. Many actors are now moving towards vertical series, and I wanted to explore that space too,” she shares. Dhruvee recently shot a couple of vertical episodes — an experience she describes as refreshing and creatively satisfying.

Interestingly, acting was not her first profession. She began her career in journalism and television anchoring, working with CNN International and HomeShop18 before making a positive shift into acting. “I’ve wanted to be an actress since I was three years old,” she says, revealing that the dream had always lived within her.

Growing up in a creative environment also shaped her artistic instincts. Her father, cinematographer Deepak Haldankar, introduced her to the world of lights, lenses and storytelling quite an early age. Without undergoing formal acting training, Dhruvee relied on her natural flair for performance and creativity, which she believes developed organically through exposure and observation.

Looking ahead, she is keen to reinvent her on-screen image. “I would love to headline a strong series on platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video — maybe as a protagonist or even a layered, unpredictable lover,” she says. Determined to move beyond her nurturing, motherly roles, Dhruvee is ready to embrace something bold and unexpected.

Beyond acting, she has also completed her first book — a biography of her father — making her debut into the literary world.

With a career rooted in passion and powered by reinvention, Dhruvee Haldankar is clearly scripting her next chapter with confidence and clarity
