The Assi box office collection has now entered its second week in theaters, and the figures reveal that the film is having a tough time, even though it started off strong. With Taapsee Pannu leading the cast and Anubhav Sinha at the helm, this courtroom drama has certainly caught some eyes with its serious subject matter, but it’s been struggling to keep the momentum going at the box office.

After two weeks in cinemas, the Assi box office collection has reached about Rs 8.95 crore nett in India. During its second week, the film brought in around Rs 2.45 crore, which shows a clear slowdown compared to its opening week.

On its second Thursday, the film made about Rs 15 lakh, adding to the overall total for the second week. While it did manage to keep some audience interest alive, the numbers indicate a significant drop in daily earnings as the weeks rolled on.

The first week for the film yielded moderate results. It kicked off with around Rs 1 crore on its first Friday, marking a humble start for this courtroom drama. However, things picked up over the weekend as more people showed up to watch.

Saturday saw an increase to about Rs 1.60 crore, followed by Rs 1.50 crore on Sunday, making the opening weekend the film's strongest period. Unfortunately, like many mid-budget, content-driven films, the numbers began to taper off during the weekdays.

On Monday, the film raked in about Rs 0.65 crore, and Tuesday saw a bit of an uptick with around Rs 0.75 crore. However, the numbers started to dip afterward, with Wednesday and Thursday each bringing in Rs 0.50 crore.

By the end of its first week, the Assi box office collection had surpassed Rs 6 crore, giving the film a solid foundation as it headed into its second week in theaters. Unfortunately, the second week revealed a more significant drop in earnings. On the second Friday, the film earned roughly Rs 0.40 crore, followed by Rs 0.60 crore on Saturday and Rs 0.50 crore on Sunday. While these weekend figures helped keep some momentum going, they still fell short compared to the opening weekend.

As the second week progressed, weekday collections continued to slide. Monday saw around Rs 0.20 crore, Tuesday brought in about Rs 0.35 crore, and Wednesday collected close to Rs 0.25 crore. By the time the film hit its second Thursday, daily earnings had dwindled to nearly Rs 0.15 crore.

Despite this downward trend, the Assi box office collection is still on track to cross the Rs 9 crore mark soon. Industry experts believe that if audience turnout improves over the upcoming weekend, the film might see a slight boost.

However, the long-term outlook for the film in theaters seems limited. Based on current patterns, trade analysts predict that the film could wrap up its theatrical run somewhere between Rs 10 crore and Rs 12 crore, which would be a disappointing outcome for the creators.

One significant factor impacting the performance of films like Assi is the change in audience viewing habits since the pandemic. Many viewers now lean towards watching smaller, mid-budget, content-driven films on streaming platforms rather than in theaters. This shift has posed challenges for films that depend heavily on strong word-of-mouth rather than star power to draw in audiences.

The film boasts an impressive lineup of supporting actors, including Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, all of whom have delivered standout performances. While the acting and courtroom storyline have received positive reviews, the film has struggled to turn that critical acclaim into strong box office sales.

As the Assi box office collection enters a pivotal phase in its third week, the pressure is on. With new films set to release soon and the number of screens gradually decreasing, the movie will need a significant boost in audience interest to keep its run alive in theaters.

For now, the film is still making its way through theaters, inching closer to the Rs 10 crore milestone. Whether it can comfortably reach that goal will largely hinge on weekend attendance and how audiences respond in the days ahead.
