For actress Sherleen Dutt, Mahashivratri is the most spiritual time of the year. The actress, who has been a part of shows such as KINK and Honey Trap Squad as well as web series Koi Jaye Toh Le Aaye and Shringarika, says that she makes sure to celebrate my fasting and meditating.
“For me, Mahashivratri is deeply spiritual. It’s a time for reflection, devotion, and connecting with Lord Shiva’s energy. I celebrate it by fasting, meditating, and chanting Shiva mantras. I also visit a temple if possible, or create a peaceful space at home to perform prayers. It’s more about inner stillness than external celebration,” she says.
She adds, “Mahashivratri holds immense significance in my life. Personally, it strengthens my spiritual connection and brings me a sense of clarity and peace. Professionally, I believe the discipline and devotion practiced during this time help me align my thoughts and energy, which ultimately reflects in my work. Observing this night of Shiva reminds me to surrender, trust the process, and keep moving forward fearlessly.”
Talking about how she manages to fast when at work, she says, “I observe a fast. I usually follow a fruit and liquid-based fast, which keeps me energized while shooting. If my schedule is very hectic, I ensure I have coconut water, fruits, and dry fruits at intervals to sustain my energy levels. Also, chanting or simply focusing on Lord Shiva helps me stay mentally strong during the fast.”
She adds, “Surprisingly, fasting doesn’t drain me; instead, it makes me feel lighter and more focused. Of course, the first few hours might feel a little challenging, but once I settle into the rhythm of the day, I actually feel more energetic and mentally alert. The spiritual energy of this day, along with meditation, keeps me going.”

She adds that celebrating such days helps her feel spiritually aligned. “Absolutely. Fasting and performing rituals like abhishek, mantra chanting, or even just meditating create a very powerful and positive energy around me. I feel more aligned and at peace, and it helps clear my mind of unnecessary clutter. This positivity extends beyond just one day and influences my mindset for a long time,” she says.
She adds, “I stay hydrated and consume natural energy boosters like coconut water, fruits, and nuts. I also practice breathwork and meditation whenever I get breaks, which helps conserve energy. More than anything, the spiritual significance of the fast keeps me motivated, and I remind myself that it’s a form of devotion rather than a challenge.”
