The Create Foundation’s “The Power Within” event celebrated the artistic expression of children from mainstream Mumbai schools as well as marginalized and differently-abled communities. The event, held at the Sophia Bhabha Auditorium in Breach Candy, aimed to promote equal opportunities for all and allowed children to showcase their talents in various art forms, including drama, dance, song, movement, and creativity.
Several well-known personalities, including Siddharth Roy Kapur, Jim Sarbh, Boman Irani, Raell Padamsee, Nandita Puri, Suchitra Pillai, Sandhya Mridul, Denzil Smith, Asif Ali Beg, and Anupama Varma, graced the event as judges and supporters.
The Create Foundation, founded in memory of Pearl Padamsee, has been working tirelessly to educate and empower children, including those facing physical and mental challenges, through the creative arts. The foundation helps instill essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and self-confidence in children using creative forms of expression.

- Participants from mainstream schools: Seventeen finalists from mainstream schools in Mumbai presented their interpretations of the theme “The Power Within” through drama, showcasing their creative and performance skills.
- Participants from marginalized and challenged backgrounds: Children from marginalized and differently-abled communities expressed their unique perspectives on “The Power Within” through various art forms.
The event had two categories for children from mainstream schools: ages 7 to 9 years and 10 to 13 years. Children from marginalized and differently-abled communities, aged 8 to 18 years, also participated.
The judging criteria included originality, relevance to the theme, creativity (including props and costumes), diction, proficiency in an art form, and overall presentation.
The event was an inspiring celebration of art and creativity, emphasizing the importance of providing equal opportunities to all children, regardless of their backgrounds or challenges. The participants showcased their talents, and their performances were met with appreciation and support from the judges and the audience.
Prominent figures from the entertainment industry, such as Siddharth Roy Kapur and Jim Sarbh, commended the event’s impact and the foundation’s efforts in empowering children through the arts. Suchitra Pillai sang a song, and Sandhya Mridul added energy to the event with her dance performance, bringing smiles to the children’s faces.
Boman Irani shared his personal journey, highlighting the transformative power of the stage and the importance of creativity. He emphasized that when children step onto the stage, their backgrounds and communities no longer matter; what matters is their creativity and the richness of their performances.
