Srushti Mishra, who plays the role of Ragini in Rahul Kumar Tewary and Rolling Tales Production’s Ram Bhavan on Colors TV, shares her love for Holi and what makes the festival so special for her.
Srushti finds many similarities between herself and her on-screen character, Ragini. “Ragini is a typical character, and there isn’t much difference between me and her. We are both from Uttar Pradesh, obedient, and calm. I feel that if Ragini were real, she would love dry Holi and enjoy Malpua and Kheer, especially the one made by her mother.”
For Srushti, the charm of Bollywood-style Holi is irresistible. “Wearing white clothes, pink and yellow gulaal flying in the air—it’s a magical sight. My mom scolds me for wearing white on Holi, and so far, I have only managed to wear it twice. But I love it; it gives a Bollywood feel!”
Holi in the Mishra household is filled with traditions passed down through generations. “Before playing Holi, we apply coconut oil all over our face, body, and hair. This prevents the skin from drying and makes it easy to wash off the colors.”

When it comes to festive treats, Malpua and Kheer are a must-have in her family. “Every Holi, my mom makes Malpua and Kheer—this is our family tradition. I also love Gujiya, and my mom ensures it’s there every Holi.”
Reminiscing about her childhood, Srushti recalls a funny yet scary moment. “I was very young when my elder brothers caught me and threw me into a water tank. I cried a lot because I was scared of water. That memory is still fresh in my mind.”
However, she avoids water balloons. “They are dangerous; I have been hurt many times. People throw them forcefully without thinking. I prefer dry Holi with gulaal—it’s safer and more comfortable.”
If Srushti had to describe herself as a color, it would be yellow. “I feel I am warm and cheerful. I am someone you can always count on, whether in friendship, family, or any connection. That’s why I believe I am a yellow person.”
