Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently shared a fascinating behind-the-scenes tidbit about the iconic romantic song Gerua from Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale. This beautiful track, featuring the beloved duo Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, was filmed against the stunning backdrop of Iceland — but it came with a jaw-dropping price tag.
In her latest vlog, Farah reminisced about how the production team shelled out nearly ₹7 crore just to shoot this one song, dubbing Iceland “the most expensive place” she’s ever worked in. “Just two actors, one song, and the budget hit seven crore. That’s how pricey Iceland is,” she chuckled while chatting with entrepreneur Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri during a relaxed get-together at their home in Delhi.
Farah also mentioned that Grover’s family had recently taken a trip to Iceland, and when they brought up looking for a Hindi song filmed there, she immediately thought of Gerua. The song, with its breathtaking visuals of waterfalls, cliffs, and black sand beaches, has become one of the standout moments in Dilwale.
Despite facing harsh weather and logistical hurdles, the team — including Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rohit Shetty, and Farah Khan — managed to pull off this extravagant shoot, turning Gerua into a timeless visual masterpiece. A behind-the-scenes video released by Red Chillies Entertainment at the time showcased the challenges they encountered while capturing the stunning Icelandic scenery.

Farah’s vlog didn’t stop at Gerua, though. She also chatted with Ashneer Grover about his journey from Shark Tank India to becoming an entrepreneur, all while enjoying a cozy meal prepared by Grover’s family. But it was her story about Dilwale that truly caught the attention of film lovers — reminding us once again that Bollywood’s passion for grand visuals often comes with a hefty price tag.
