Director Abhinav Thakur explains that the primary aim of “The Lipstick Boy” is to bring the famous “Launda Naach,” a traditional dance form disappearing from Bihar, to a broader national and international audience. The film portrays the struggles of artists associated with this cultural phenomenon. There was a time when this dance form, initially popularized by Shri Bhikhari Thakur, often referred to as the “Shakespeare of Bhojpuri,” and his famous play, “Bidesia,” dominated Bollywood. However, changing times led to shifts in people’s interests and traditions. Today, there are still artists in Bihar dedicated to preserving this dance form, and the film is inspired by the life of one such artist, Kumar Uday Singh, and others like him.
“The Lipstick Boy,” produced under the Sand Films Production banner, is a Hindi film that celebrates Bihar’s famous folk dance, Launda Naach. The film is created with a global audience in mind, allowing for creative freedom and expression. It’s set to be released soon and is produced by Deepak Sawant and Nikunj Shekhar. Deepak Sawant, often considered Amitabh Bachchan’s lucky charm, has consistently supported Bihar’s content. Nikunj Shekhar expressed gratitude to the entire team for their unwavering dedication.

The lead role in the movie is portrayed by Manoj Patel, a renowned film and TV actor from Bihar, with other characters rooted in the film’s storyline. The film was shot in Bihar’s Nalanda and Patna in 2020. Due to the pandemic lockdown, its release was postponed, but it is now set to captivate audiences soon.
