For actress Moon Banerrjee, who has been part of shows like Chashme Baddoor, Abhimaan, Ghar Ek Mandir, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Muskaan, Sasural Simar Ka 2, and Doree, Mother’s Day is not just a date on the calendar — it’s a gentle reminder of the constant presence, strength, and love her mother has given her over the years.

“She is the reason I’m here, and the reason I’m still standing,” Moon says with deep gratitude. “On this Mother’s Day, I would want to thank her for bringing me into this world and helping me navigate through life silently. She never made a big show of it, but her guidance has been constant and powerful.”

Celebrating this special day varies depending on Moon’s schedule and the weather, but the intent is always to make it meaningful. “We generally celebrate either by having a scrumptious meal at home — that’s if I’m in the mood to cook, because I usually take charge,” she smiles. “Or if the weather continues to be this good, then we may just drive down to Lonavala and visit one of our favorite restaurants for a lovely meal together.”

While Moon has countless memories with her mother, one life lesson remains etched in her heart. “She taught me to be resilient and strong-minded,” she shares thoughtfully. “But at the same time, she reminded me never to lose touch with the child within. That balance is everything in life and in our journey as women.”

Talking about food — one of the purest forms of love between a mother and child — Moon lights up as she describes her mother’s cooking. “My mum makes amazing Bengali fish preparations — most of them are masterpieces,” she says fondly. “It’s actually unfair to name just one, because they’re all my favorites.”
