The much-anticipated sequel to Dhurandhar The Revenge has finally hit theaters, and the buzz around it was electric. Directed by Aditya Dhar, this film promises a thrilling journey filled with covert operations, heart-pounding action, and deep emotional stakes and for the most part, it truly delivers a cinematic feast. With a runtime of nearly 4 hours, it’s a daring move for Indian audiences who typically prefer shorter films, but the ambition behind it is hard to ignore.

Ranveer Singh takes center stage as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, showcasing an incredible range of emotions. He seamlessly transitions from a fierce operative on high-stakes missions to a sensitive son grappling with personal loss, making his performance the heart of the film. Madhavan shines alongside him, delivering a strong and composed performance as a crucial intelligence operative. Meanwhile, Rakesh Bedi brings a delightful touch of humor as politician Jameel Jamali, providing much-needed comic relief amid the tension.

Aditya Dhar’s direction keeps the action mostly clear and engaging, while the screenplay does a solid job of laying out character motivations early on essential for navigating the complex plot involving the “Unknown Men” and operations inspired by real events. The first half sets the stage effectively, though a few scenes drag on and might test the patience of viewers who aren’t fully invested in the details. The second half, packed with action and emotional depth, makes up for the slower pacing and keeps the audience hooked right until the end.

On the technical side, the film largely succeeds in delivering a polished viewing experience. Shashwat Mahadevan’s music enhances pivotal moments, and the cinematography and editing work together to sustain the film's tension. However, despite its grand scale, a few technical hiccups especially during the more intense sequences can momentarily pull viewers out of the experience.

While the film ambitiously incorporates elements that echo real-life events and figures, its complexity can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, demanding the viewer's full attention to navigate through all its layers. Still, the dedication to realism and authentic storytelling really distinguishes it from your average action drama.

Dhurandhar 2 shines in its performances, especially from Ranveer Singh and Madhavan, with emotional moments that resonate deeply, honoring the unsung heroes working behind the scenes. However, its lengthy runtime, some sluggish pacing, and a few overly complicated plotlines hold it back from reaching perfection.
