On-screen, he’s simply magnificent and unrecognisable, such has been the transformation. Everything, right from the way he has moulded his look and appearance to look older and poles apart from what he is in reality deserves a bow and respect. On being asked to take us a little through his transformation journey, Jay Patel shares and we quote,
“Well, all thanks to a wonderful co-actor and director like Randeep Hooda, the brief was clear right from the very beginning. I knew right from the word ‘go’ that was going to be one of my most challenging films ever. I had to ensure that in my avatar of the honourable Shyamji Krishna Varma, even my family isn’t able to recognise me or find any element of Jay. While the makeup and other stuff can make you look older, a lot of research and in-depth analysis needs to go to minute details like body language, poise, motion, voice modulation and a lot of other things. Also physically, the task was quite challenging and interesting. I had to modify my diet accordingly to look a certain shape in order to ensure there’s authenticity. My biggest goal was to ensure my transformation helps me in my goal which was to bring authenticity without any form of caricature. As an artiste, I am satisfied that I could do justice to the faith entrusted upon me and well, all this appreciation after all the hard work and transformation, be it physical and mental feels good to hear. All this only motivates me to work harder and do even better in my next films.”
