Angad Hasija: Not only actors, but people from other fields are also active on social media, everyone wants to promote their name and trade

Social media has become an integral part of human existence. Whether it’s good or bad, many of us are hooked on it. Angad Hasija of Bidaai fame talks about his rendezvous with the virtual world. He begins by sharing about the time he spends online daily.

“I spend a lot of my time on social media these days because of course a lot of things are on it. People watch you there. Not only actors, but people from other fields are also active on social media. Everyone wants to promote their name and trade. People are watching you 24X 7 and notice everything from what you are wearing, in which car you are in to what you are doing,” says the Rang Jaun Tere Rang Mein actor.

Many have opined that the world of social media is fake, yet they want attention on it. Angad feels this is double standard behaviour. “I don’t understand when people are there on social media and doing the same things like others and then calling it fake. Yes, it isn’t the real world, but if you focus on the right and real things on it then that is not bad. And, I think that should be the approach,” he adds.

Many casting directors these days often take notice of one’s follower count before calling them for parts. Same happens with brands.

“I have very few followers. If I’m active then my followers will increase and if I'm not active then the opposite will happen. Still people are judged on the basis of their followers. When it comes to fake followers I think it is someone's personal choice. I think it’s not a bad or good thing. Everyone wants to maintain their social media popularity and visibility. I personally don’t have any problem with less followers. My work is really important to me. Of Course there are few brands who give you their products on the basis of your followers, but then again that’s their choice,” he says.

People including celebrities keep saying that they prefer keeping their personal life private a bit then they end up posting very personal photos too.

“When you are out on a vacation and you have booked a very nice hotel then you might want to flaunt it. Everyone will show that they have visited a beautiful place and inspire others to try it too. It is very normal. There is nothing private or personal information given in this. If you are genuinely enjoying it then there is no harm in it. Social media is an amazing place to tell people about different places to visit and connect with new people. We do find negative things related to social media but there are so many positive sides to it that many don’t explore. You get to learn a lot of things. If the other person loves to read books or styling then that person will keep posting about those, and others will gain knowledge from it. I feel it’s time that we focus on the positive and ignore the negatives online,” he ends.
