To honor the legendary musician Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, the second edition of the Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan Award is scheduled for January 16th and 17th, 2024. The award ceremony, marking the maestro's third death anniversary, will take place at Shanmukhananda Hall in Sion, Mumbai. This year, the award will be presented to the renowned musician Padma Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain.
The award ceremony will be followed by a concert titled 'Haazri' by Padma Shri Sonu Nigam, a disciple of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. The tribute concert will pay homage to the late maestro and showcase Sonu Nigam's musical prowess.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, a doyen of Hindustani Classical Music, left an enduring legacy, and the award in his name recognizes outstanding contributions to Indian Classical Music. Last year, the award was presented to flute maestro Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
