Plot: "I Killed Bapu" uncovers the forgotten identity of Nathuram Vinayak Godse, known as the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi. However, the film sheds light on his earlier persona as a freedom fighter and advocate for "Akhand Bharat" (Undivided India). Godse vehemently opposed the division of India into India and Pakistan and held Gandhi responsible for this partition. His fear that more divisions would occur if Gandhi lived longer led him to plan Gandhi's assassination. Godse's book "Maine Gandhi Vadh Kyu Kiya" detailed these motivations. The film portrays Godse as a patriot, nationalist, Hindu, and follower of "Hindutva," an ideology popularized by his mentor Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

Director's Statement: Director Hyder Kazmi explained that the film aims to explore the complexities of history and human emotions. It seeks to understand the motivations and actions of individuals during a critical moment in India's past. "I Killed Bapu" invites audiences to reflect, question, and engage with history from a different perspective.
