Actress Somy Ali was recently featured in magazines, Forbes and Fortune, for the work that she does through her NGO No More Tears (NMT). She tirelessly works to protect and rehabilitate victims of domestic violence and rape in the US. She says that such interviews in prestigious magazines help spread awareness about what they do.
“Awareness is key for what we do at NMT. Many people are unaware of the prevalence of human trafficking, hence, this will shed light on the issue and hopefully the wealthy will care enough to donate to our nonprofit organization. They need to know that two year old girls and boys are being sold daily for sex on the dark web. And human trafficking has taken over the drug trade industry,” she says.
The actress has saved 50,000 in 17 years along with her NMT team. Talking about the same, she says, “Still going and counting! You see, I made a deal with my creator or the law of the universe to please give me enough time on this earth that I can save lives till my last breath. I want nothing else from my creator. Thus far, he or she has stuck by me, but there is free will right, so no matter how much one asks the universe and that’s where I am losing and struggling financially with NMT Hence, I am requesting all of you who do not like me or want to have any contact with me due to one single person telling you to do so. It’s fine in fact to hate me more, but don’t take it out on the victims please. They need your support. That’s all I ask!” she says.

Aug 16, 2026Ask her how tough has this journey of 17 years been, and she says, “It hasn’t been difficult because I love rescuing the victims and to see a five-year-old raped girl come running to me after a year of therapy through NMT smiling yelling out, ‘Somy mommy,’ running towards me is not easy for many to understand. But I will admit the financial burden has been beyond rough and it keeps me up at night. I know I am not going to stop all these heinous acts against children, women, men, and our LGBTQ community, but I will not sit around watching it happen even if I die doing it. I am in it and it’s equivalent to taking an oath or a soldier’s lack of fear when he’s ready to die to save his people. That’s exactly my sentiment because I too was once that five year old girl, my brother too was that abused child, my mother of course, and many more are abused to date and I have to at least try to stop it.”
