Three friends, old crushes, and a school reunion that stirs up unfinished love stories, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar has all the makings of a delightful romantic comedy. However, it takes a little while for the film to hit its stride. With Luv Ranjan backing it, the film feels quite familiar in its storytelling, even though it features a younger cast and a more contemporary backdrop.
The plot revolves around Shivi, Govi, and Vedant, three flatmates who have been holding onto feelings they never quite voiced. A school reunion presents them with a chance to reconnect with their past crushes. Shivi finds herself captivated by her former senior, Tushar, while Govi is hopeful that things might finally click with Gehna, and Vedant has his sights set on Simran. Of course, things don’t unfold as smoothly as they’d hoped.

One of the film's most charming elements is the friendship among the three leads. Their playful teasing, casual chats, and efforts to support each other in love add a nice touch of warmth to the story. However, not all the banter hits the mark, and some exchanges come off as a bit too scripted, lacking the natural flow of real-life conversations. The film takes its time to settle into its characters, which impacts the humor in the first half.

Little Thomas Review, Gulshan Devaiah and Rasika Dugal Make This Sweet Family Story Worth Watching
Oct 23, 2026Sargun Kaur Luthra, Sparsh Walia, and Kunal Vaid inject a refreshing energy into the central trio. The supporting cast, featuring Alisha Chopra, Sakshi Vaidya, and Karan Shergill, enhances the youthful vibe of the narrative. While the romantic pairings have their standout moments, the writing could have delved deeper into the emotional layers of these relationships.
As the film approaches its climax, it starts to find its rhythm, with the characters appearing more at ease and the fun feeling less forced. The romance becomes more enjoyable, and the group finally shares those lighthearted moments that make a love story shine. Still, the film heavily relies on familiar Bollywood tropes regarding relationships and misunderstandings, leaving some viewers wishing it had taken a few more creative risks.
