Anu Aggarwal On the occasion of Maharashtra Day and Labour Day, the 17th edition of the Newsmakers Achievers Awards presented by Afternoon Voice was organized at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Mumbai. The event was hosted by Dr. Vaidehi Taman.
Among those felicitated were Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar, RSS senior pracharak Ram Lal (chief guest), Ministers Uday Samant and Yogesh Kadam, actress Anu Aggarwal of Aashiqui fame, Nyrraa M Banerji, Pankaj Berry, Smita Jayakar, Appa Parab, J.V. Pawar, Master Ayan Khan, Dattatraya Mane, Col Prabhat Sood Rtd.,several IAS and IPS officers, and senior media professionals.
A tribute was paid with a moment of silence for the martyrs of the Pahalgam attack. The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. All guests were felicitated with shawls.
Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was received by Usha Tai on his behalf. She shared that Pt. Hridaynath personally requested her to receive it and thanked Dr. Vaidehi for the honour.

Chief guest Ram Lal emphasized how Vaidehi’s work is meaningful and congratulated her. He reflected on India’s cultural strength and said, “India alone talks about global welfare and will lead the world in the next 10 years.”
Smita Jayakar, Appa Parab, J.V. Pawar, and Anu Aggarwal also received Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Minister Uday Samant received the Best Working Politician Award and expressed gratitude, calling it a privilege to be honoured on a stage with such legends. Minister Yogesh Kadam also received the same award.
In the social category, IPS officer Sandeep Tamgadge, Retd. Colonel Prabhat Sood (Defense Services), social worker Mahamandaleshwar Payal Nandgiri Ji, Dr. Venu Gopal Ram Rao (Best Doctor), Pandit Vidyadhar Mishra (Best Vedic Scholar), and Hindi litterateur Yatindra Kataria were awarded.
In entertainment, Pankaj Berry was awarded Best Versatile Actor, Nyrraa M Banerji as Best Versatile Actress, Prshant Damle as Best Theatre Actor ,and child artist Ayan Khan received the Best Child Artist award.

In media, Ashok Shrivastav won Best Anchoring Award, and Sarita Kaushik (News Editor, ABP Majha) was also honoured.
The Consul General of Sweden in Mumbai, Mr. Sven Östberg, social entrepreneur Dr. Nandita Pathak, and social worker Maya Ram Bahadur Lama were also felicitated.
Dr. Vaidehi Taman, a renowned author, journalist, philanthropist, and healer, expressed gratitude for the success of the event. She emphasized that the awards are given without sponsorship, purely based on merit. She added that legends like Lata Mangeshkar and Bal Thackeray have accepted this award in the past. She shared her journey—from mortgaging her house to start a newspaper to helping people escape drug addiction, forming a charitable trust, building temples, and mentoring young journalists each year.
