Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is making waves at the box office yet again. Even in its fourth week, the Hindi version of the film is still going strong, raking in ₹3.75–4 crore on Saturday and bringing its total to an impressive ₹188 crore nett after 24 days. With Sunday’s earnings expected to nudge it closer to ₹192 crore, the film is well on its way to hitting that coveted ₹200 crore milestone — a target it’s likely to reach by Thursday.
Despite facing stiff competition from several post-Diwali releases and a decrease in screen counts, Kantara Chapter 1 has shown remarkable staying power. Its consistent performance following the Diwali weekend highlights its strong appeal and positive word-of-mouth. The fourth weekend alone is projected to bring in a solid ₹11 crore, nearly matching the previous weekend’s ₹12.25 crore — an incredible achievement for a film in its fourth week.
Trade analysts have officially dubbed Kantara Chapter 1 a Super Hit, thanks to its impressive sustainability and cultural resonance. Interestingly, while films like Baahubali 2, KGF 2, and Pushpa 2 were anticipated to set the standard for sequels, Kantara Chapter 1 has forged its own unique path with a more grounded, regional essence. Its strongest performances have been in Maharashtra and Western India, areas that share cultural ties with Karnataka, while the North belt has also contributed solid numbers.
The film’s journey at the Hindi box office has exceeded all expectations. Initially, industry experts estimated a lifetime total of around ₹150 crore. However, Kantara Chapter 1 has not only surpassed those predictions but is now on track to earn ₹10–15 crore beyond the ₹200 crore mark. This makes it one of the few regional films to achieve such remarkable success in Hindi markets — more than 2.5 times the revenue of the original Kantara.
