Mumbai: Actor Vishaal Mohan played the lead in the Hindi television show U Turn – Zindagi Ki Oor and made his feature film debut with Game 100 Crore Ka. He recently starred in the film Love Story Abhimanyu Ki. As Diwali approaches, the actor opens up about how the meaning of the festival has changed for him, his celebration plans, his love for festive food and his most memorable Diwali.
Talking about how his understanding of Diwali has evolved over the years, Vishaal says, “As a child, Diwali was all about lit diyas, crackers and the happiness of celebrating with family. But as I grew older, the meaning became much deeper. Having worked behind the camera as an assistant director before moving in front of it, I have experienced my share of struggles, doubts and rejections. Today, I feel darkness also represents the difficult phases we face in life. Overcoming it means staying disciplined, believing in yourself and finding the strength to keep going. For me, light now stands for resilience.”
Sharing his Diwali plans, he says, “This year, I want to keep the celebrations centred around family and gratitude. I make sure to be home for the main puja because spending time with my loved ones is important to me. I follow a very strict fitness routine and maintain my calorie intake throughout the year, so Diwali is one occasion when I allow myself to enjoy traditional sweets and home-cooked festive food without worrying about every calorie. I look forward to this little indulgence, decorating the house and celebrating together.”

Nov 7, 2026Talking about balancing work and celebrations, Vishaal adds, “The entertainment industry never really stops, and the festive season can get quite busy with shoots, events and promotional commitments. I believe it is important to plan things well and set boundaries. I try to complete my professional commitments before the main festival days. Even if I am working on a set, we make sure to celebrate with the crew. My approach is to give my complete attention to whatever I am doing. When I am working, I give it my best, and when I am with my family, I prefer keeping my phone aside and being present with them.”
Recalling his most memorable Diwali, he shares, “It was the Diwali after I transitioned from working behind the scenes to getting my first major acting opportunity. I had assisted on big projects like Guzaarish and had spent years observing actors and learning the craft. So, celebrating Diwali after taking that step as an actor felt very special. Seeing the pride in my parents' eyes made the occasion even more emotional. It felt like all those years of hard work and patience were finally leading somewhere.”
Sharing a message for his fans, Vishaal concludes, “I would like everyone to understand that true prosperity is not just about money or material success. Your health, both physical and mental, is equally important. In today's fast-paced world, we often get distracted and forget to take care of ourselves. Make time for your body, follow a healthy routine and build mental strength. Stay consistent, stay grounded and never give up on yourself. Let the light of discipline and self-belief guide you throughout the year.
