After ten days in theaters, the film’s domestic total is around Rs 146.5 crore. Internationally, it added roughly Rs 32.5 crore, bringing the worldwide total to about Rs 179 crore. While these figures might seem impressive at first glance, they fall significantly short of the expectations set by the film’s scale, budget, and star power.
The warning signs were evident from day one. The film opened to lackluster numbers, and audience reception didn’t improve over the opening weekend. Although the midweek Sankranti holidays provided a brief boost—especially on Wednesday and Thursday—the relief was short-lived. For a film that was made on such a grand scale, this result means significant losses. Trade analysts are already comparing The Raja Saab to last year’s Game Changer, as both films experienced a similar trajectory—weak openings, poor word of mouth, steep declines, and ultimately, financial letdowns.
Regionally, the film did a bit better in places like Nizam and Karnataka, while other areas struggled to gain any real traction. Overseas earnings, including those from the United States and other international markets, were modest and couldn’t make up for the shortfall at home.
Even with Prabhas in the lead and the excitement around its genre and scale, The Raja Saab is a stark reminder that having a star doesn’t automatically ensure box office success. How the content is received and how well it connects with the audience are still crucial, and in this case, both aspects fell short.
