Priyamvada Kant on Playing Chaman Bahar in Woh Toh Hai Albelaa: A Character-Driven Show in the TV Industry

Priyamvada Kant, a popular face in the Indian television industry, is currently seen playing the role of Chaman Bahar in the TV show Woh Toh Hai Albelaa (WTHA). Produced by Rajan Shahi’s Directors Kut Production (DKP), the show is known for its character-driven storyline. In a recent interview, Priyamvada talked about her experience playing Chaman Bahar, the pressure of entering a show midway, and her learning from the industry.

Priyamvada shared that the main reason for choosing the show was DKP, as she had worked with them before and was impressed with their passion for creating character-driven shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH) and Anupama. She also mentioned that her father hails from Bihar, and since she had never learned the language, she wanted to dedicate her role to him.

Chaman Bahar is an atrangi character who has lived in the forest all her life but is knowledgeable about technology and a big fan of Bhojpuri music. Priyamvada shared that she found the show's focus on relationships and bonds to be very interesting, which is a common feature in all of Rajan Shahi's shows.

Entering a show midway is never easy, as Priyamvada mentioned. The new entrant has to build a character from scratch while everyone else is already familiar with their parts. However, she shared that the team was wonderful and supportive, which made the process easier.

Priyamvada also spoke highly of the DKP family, calling them understanding, sweet, and caring. She said that she would never say no to anything they asked her to do, as they had created a healthy working atmosphere.

When asked about her landmark show, Priyamvada mentioned Tenali Rama and how people still love her as Sharda. She also shared that playing Sharda was very challenging, as it was a character that no one had heard of before. However, she said that WTHA was the closest to her heart, as Chaman Bahar was an imaginary character that was very difficult to portray.

Priyamvada also shared her thoughts on the entertainment industry and how it brings smiles to people's faces. She said that being a part of people's households was a beautiful feeling, as they got attached to the characters and wanted to know what was happening in their lives.

Regarding the industry's changing landscape and competition, Priyamvada mentioned that it was becoming more difficult to run shows for a long time, as people's attention spans had decreased. However, she also said that there was room for everyone, and if one was good at what they did, they would get work.

As an artist, Priyamvada said that she was more driven than ambitious. She loved working and playing different characters and associated herself with the ones she enjoyed portraying. She said that her goal in life was to keep entertaining her audience in whichever way she could.
