Mumbai: Khushbu Rajendra is all set to be seen as Naina in When Veer Met Naina, the new vertical show on Its Alright TV. Talking about the show and her character, Khushbu says Naina is someone who has faced a lot but continues to stand strong.
For Khushbu, the vertical format came at a time when she wanted to take up something different without committing herself to a long television schedule. She feels that micro dramas give actors the chance to explore smaller stories while still putting their best into the work. “I feel that vertical came into my life at a time when I did not want to do something very big. I did not have the emotional bandwidth for it. When you don't want to take up a very big television show or want to pivot in your life and you don't have a godfather, I think this is a brilliant thing,” she says.
She adds that micro dramas can be a good space for artists who want to take a break, explore different stories and give themselves time to grow. “I think micro dramas should be celebrated for an artist who wants to take some time off, pick little stories and give their best to those little stories,” Khushbu shares. Talking about Naina in When Veer Met Naina, Khushbu says the character has similarities with many of the strong women she has played in the past. Naina is a survivor who refuses to give up, no matter how difficult things become.

Sep 9, 2026“Again, a survivor! I feel I have played many characters in my life who are survivors, who are very strong girls and who will never fall or break,” she says. Naina's journey takes her through a difficult situation involving a dangerous man who becomes obsessed with her. Despite everything that comes her way, she continues to fight. Her life takes another turn when she meets Veer, a person she does not initially like.
“Veer meets Naina. Naina is a character who doesn't break. She fights with life. There is a very dangerous villain who is obsessed with her and follows her. But she somehow survives. She meets Veer, whom she doesn't like, but somehow, as the story unfolds, there is a lot of little romance here and there,” Khushbu says.
Khushbu also credits the team behind When Veer Met Naina for making her say yes to the project. She says the energy and enthusiasm of the makers played an important role in her decision.

Sep 9, 2026“I would give credit to the channel and also to the producers of the show. They were taking the project forward with a lot of interest, energy and enthusiasm. When you see someone else's interest and enthusiasm, you automatically want to level up and do better,” she says. Her experience on the set was also full of fun moments. Khushbu especially remembers working with Mohit, who she describes as a breath of fresh air. She says their scenes allowed them to play around with the script instead of simply following something that was heavily rehearsed.
“I had a lot of fun with him. He was a breath of fresh air. He is an actor who is not rehearsed. With someone like that, you can also play with the script. He is also playing along and it becomes quite fun,” she shares.
Khushbu also recalls a funny moment involving her mother, who was visiting the set. During one scene, an actor playing a havaldar struggled with his dialogue and needed a few takes. Her mother's reaction left Khushbu amused.
“My mother was on set. There was a scene where the havaldar was getting stuck while saying his dialogue and he took two or three takes. My mother was like, ‘It didn't come in three takes, I would have told him!’ I thought that was very cute and adorable,” she recalls.
For Khushbu, When Veer Met Naina is ultimately about a character who refuses to let difficult circumstances define her. Naina's meeting with Veer brings another layer to her journey, with survival, conflict and romance coming together as the story moves forward.
As the show brings Naina and Veer together, Khushbu hopes audiences will enjoy their journey and connect with the characters. “Watch when Naina and Veer meet on Its Alright TV,” she says.
