Navratri, one of India’s most revered festivals, is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. In the state of Madhya Pradesh, this festival is marked by a grand celebration where devotees fast for nine days, paying homage to the nine different forms of Goddess Durga. It’s also a time for people to gather at local dandiya and Garba grounds to celebrate with their loved ones. Yogesh Tripathi, well-known for his role as Daroga Happu Singh in &TV’s “Happu Ki Ultan Paltan,” recently participated in the Navratri celebrations in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He fully embraced the local festive spirit, even dancing with the crowd during Garba. Here’s what he had to say about his experience during the Navratri celebrations.
Yogesh Tripathi, who plays the character Daroga Happu Singh, expressed his excitement and said, “Gwalior has truly won my heart with its festive magic. Last year, during Navratri, I was captivated by the vibrant energy that enveloped the city. Returning this year to join the Navratri celebration was an amazing experience. I was touched by the warmth and love the people showered upon me. Seeing the crowds dancing in traditional attire and participating in Garba brought immense joy, and their infectious energy was truly heartwarming. I was delighted to meet everyone and fully immersed myself in the festive spirit. People’s love for my character Daroga Happu Singh from ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ was evident, as many playfully conversed with me in the Bundelkhandi dialect. Some asked, ‘Kitni Nyochavar lenge aap? (laughs),’ to which I playfully replied, ‘Is baar bas pyaar ki nyochavar lenge hum’ (This time, I’ll only accept love). Gwalior’s rich historical ambiance and the warm nature of its people made my visit unforgettable. Exploring the majestic Gwalior Fort and navigating the bustling Patankar Bazaar for local handicrafts and textiles was a delight. As a food enthusiast, I savored sweet imartis, crispy kachoris, and Poha Jalebi. This trip will always hold a special place in my heart, and I eagerly look forward to the day when I can visit Gwalior again in all its festive splendor.”
