Mumbai: Dhurandhar The Revenge actor Sunil Sharma believes over the years fitness has evolved from being just about physical health. He feels it now embraces mental and emotional well-being too.
Speaking on the occasion of World Health Day, which is observed on April 7, he said, "Earlier, fitness mostly meant being physically strong or not getting sick often. Now it feels much broader. People talk more openly about mental health, stress, and emotional well-being along with physical fitness."
"It’s not just about going to the gym or having a certain body type anymore—it’s more about feeling good, staying balanced, and being able to handle daily life without feeling drained," he added.

“Fitness Today Is About Feeling, Not Just Looking,” says Apoorv Kansal on Health and Balance
Apr 7, 2026He believes traditional Indian practices like home-cooked meals and daily routines still hold relevance in modern health habits. He said, "Simple things like eating home-cooked food, having meals on time, and following a basic routine still work really well. We often look for fancy diets, but our regular dal, roti, and sabzi are already quite balanced. Even habits like waking up early or including yoga make a lot of sense today."
Sunil also blames increasing screen time for the negative impact on physical well-being. He said, "We can’t avoid screens completely, but small things help. Like taking short breaks, getting up and walking a bit, not using the phone right before sleeping, and just being a little mindful of posture. Even these small changes make a difference over time."
And he acknowledged the importance of a good sleep too. He said, "Sleep is actually very important, but most people ignore it." We tend to compromise on sleep for work, social media, or just scrolling. But when sleep is disturbed, everything else—mood, energy, even health—gets affected. It’s something we should take more seriously."

Apr 6, 2026He admitted that people now are more aware of their health today and said, "At the same time, people also get influenced easily by trends. One day it’s a new diet, the next day it’s something else. Real health is more about consistency than trying every new thing that comes up."
Sunil also stressed the importance of discipline over motivation. He said, "Motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what keeps you going on normal days. Even simple habits like eating on time or staying active need some level of consistency."
Before concluding, Sunil shared that walking daily can make a big difference in a person's health. "It sounds very basic, but it really helps. It’s easy to follow, doesn’t need any setup, and is good for both body and mind," he said.
