Legendary composer Anu Malik was deeply moved after listening to Vishal Mishra’s rendition of Jaate Hue Lamhon from Border 2. The song, which carries an immense emotional and musical legacy, evoked strong memories of the original creators and the era in which it belonged.
Recalling the impact of the original version and the responsibility that comes with reimagining such an iconic composition, Anu Malik shared how he was initially curious and even concerned about who would lend their voice to a song that follows the monumental legacy of Sandese Aate Hain. However, upon hearing Vishal Mishra’s version, the veteran composer was left overwhelmed and emotional.
Sharing his thoughts directly with Vishal Mishra, Anu Malik said,
“Main yeh kehna chahta hoon mere sunne walon ko ki bahut saalon pehle jab yeh gaana bana tha, Anup ji ne gaya tha, Javed ji ne likha tha, jab Dutta sahab, O.P. Dutta sahab sab hi yaad aate hain. Dimaag mein yeh baat thi ki agar Border 2 ban rahi hai toh is gaane ko kaun gaayega. Sandese Aate Hain ne toh aag laga di hai. Lekin is gaane par sabki nazar thi.
Aur kamaal ki baat yeh hai ki jab maine yeh gaana suna, toh main hairat mein pad gaya ki itni shiddat se yeh kaun gaa raha hai. Aur wahan naam aaya Vishal Mishra ka. Shuruaat mein jo shuru kiya Vishal ne, ek composer ke dil ko samajhna, uski aatma ko samajhna, ek composer ko samajhna bahut mushkil kaam hai. Yeh gaana bahut chala hua gaana hai.
