These days boys might not support their parents but girls never leave their parents' side: Charrul Malik

Actress and former television anchor Charrul Malik has very strong opinions about a girl child and feels that the overall perception of people has changed when it comes to welcoming a girl child in the family. Giving an example of her twin sister, Parul, she shared that in today's time a son might forget to take care of their parents, but a daughter is always by their side.

Speaking on the occasion of National Girl Child Day, which is observed on January 24, Charrul said, "This day should be celebrated throughout the year. I have a twin sister Parul, so when we were born, our parents were happy to have two daughters. Even when our brother was born, they would tell others that two girls were enough for them and that they were lucky to have us. I feel that times have changed. Earlier also people used to value girls but today girls are far more ahead than boys. These days boys might not support their parents but girls never leave their parents' side."

Sharing her personal experience she revealed how her Dad is living in the USA with her sister. "My mom passed away 6 years ago and soon after that my Dad left from Chandigarh and started staying with my sister Parul. And also my younger brother shifted there. Times have changed. Earlier people would say that a girl's parents can't live in her home, but we have progressed and our mindset and thoughts have changed. We have become positive and opened up a lot. It never felt that a girl can't do things which a boy can," she said.

"Having a twin sister and how girls are given all the love, freedom and a good upbringing and also the expectations from her, I have seen all that in my family. We now value them and are proud of them. We are in a society where there is equality and girls are doing good in every field, be it media, films, television, medical, army , navy etc. Every day is a girl's day and National Girl Child Day should be celebrated every year, every day," Charrul concluded.
