Producer Chitra Vikal Sharma’s Tandoor, featuring Tanuj Virmani, has been getting a lot of awards. Tanuj recently bagged the Best Performer in a Negative Role award at the IWM Buzz Digital awards.
“Receiving an award is always a special moment. Tanuj Virwani was the perfect negative lead in the web series,” says Chitra, adding, “As a producer, I am thrilled by continuously being recognised and getting awards for the show, especially one that was made during peak Covid times. Recently, I have received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Icon Awards Films 2022 for the best upcoming producer and I was elated to receive the honour.”
Talking about the kind of projects that she would like to produce in the future, Chitra says, “I like to produce projects which are based on real-life incidents. We need to think out of the box. The OTT platforms allow me to tell stories the way they were meant to be told and deliver them straight to the audiences. I enjoy doing my research and reading more about the incidents and then designing the project.”
Tandoor was released in July 2021 and has been nominated for Best Series at the Filmfare OTT Awards too.
The thriller genre is enjoyed the most on OTT, says the producer. “The audiences are always keen to know about the truth and what has happened? They warmly welcome and accept crime thriller stories which I enjoy doing the most as well. Their love and interest in these shows motivate me to make more interesting shows in the future,” she adds.
