&TV's latest family drama, Doosri Maa, starring Neha Joshi and Aayudh Bhanushali, revolves around Yashoda (Neha Joshi), who lives in Uttar Pradesh with her husband, two daughters, and in-laws. Her happy, peaceful family life comes to a halt when she and her husband unknowingly end up adopting his illegitimate child, Krishna (Aayudh Bhanushali). Actor Sunil Dutt, who essays the role of Suresh Gupta, Yashoda’s father-in-law in the show, shares his excitement about being part of Doosri Maa,“I am playing the character Suresh Gupta, who is Ashok’s father in the show. He is a typical Bania, miserly and cunning by nature, but not a negative person. He is very traditional and patriarchal and is hell-bent on his sons having a male heir. He still has the house and shop in his name and uses them to strut his authority in the house. He is respectful of Ashok because Ashok is successful and his being a lawyer gets some importance for Suresh too in the city. He is unhappy that Yashoda has not produced a male heir but tolerates her because she takes care of him and his wife. Ashok is supportive of her, and he would not like to put off his successful son. But he can play his son or daughter against each other for his gain, however petty it be”.
He adds, “My character of Suresh is very different from any previous role I have played onscreen. I have done many episodic roles in various shows, and I feel all my hard work and dedication helped me get the opportunity. The concept of the show is unique and fresh for the audience. Interestingly, this is my second show with Neha Joshi and Aayudh Bhanushali, as we previously teamed up on Ek Mahanayak-Dr B.R. Ambedkar, in which I played a corrupt landlord, Seth Ji. I hope the audience will shower their same love on Doosri Maa. We have recently started shooting and are excited for our show to go on air. We look forward to our audience's love and support to make this a great success”.
