Actress Shivangi Verma, who has been a part of TV shows like 'Choti Sarrdaarni', 'Reporters' and 'Bhootu' says that she had never imagined that she would become an actor. She says that things just worked out in this way.
“Honestly, my story is very different. What I am right now is because of God's will. I did not decide to be in this industry. But God did. For me, I always wanted to be an air hostess or a model since the very beginning. I was very interested in makeup and things like that. But the family was not really convinced with that kind of stream. But at the same time, I was not really interested in studies though I was a good student. I was always creative. So, we all decided in our family that I can become an animator. So, I started doing animation. I did it for four years. And obviously, I wanted to opt for a career out of it. But then suddenly Nach Baliye happened. And then I had to switch from Delhi to Bombay. And I loved this industry. And this industry also accepted me. I started getting work and then I continued staying here. So, I really did face a lot of things but in a very different way. But yes, for a person, the career deciding stage is really difficult and confusing,” she says.
Talking about career choices, she says, “What I wanted to do, or I want to opt for a career was definitely very different from what my parents wanted me to be in future. My parents always wanted me to be a CA. But because I had a lot of interest in grooming myself and doing makeup and making very different hairstyles every day and sitting in front of the mirror and keeping dancing to the songs. So, my interest was always somewhere else. My parents did guide me for what they wanted me to be, and they always thought that what I wanted to be or opt for a career, like air horse as a model, then there is no future in that stream. So, it was not so difficult for me to explain this to them. But at the same time, now, when I look back, I know what they were talking about.”

It was very difficult for me to convince my parents because they were right on their part, but they thought because they had no knowledge and because there was nobody else in the family who was an air hostess. So, they thought that there is no future out of it. So yes, it was difficult to convince them. But at the same time, I did something I really had an interest in. We all came to a point where I was also satisfied and my viewpoint was also equally important. And we all decided, let's just get into animation. And that's what I did. But again, God thought of something else for me and I ended up doing acting.”
