Actor Ranaksh Rana who is known for his work in ‘Ballia Kaand’ and multilingual contemporary mytho-sports drama ‘The Mentor', says that where cinema is concerned, the sky's the limit for him. He says that his first love is acting itself, and watching good acting on screen, and there are many films that have inspired him in his life.
“I got interested in theatre first and then films. Acting was the source. I love the film Mother India. Also, Milkha Singh, made me realise that there’s no shortcut to hard work. As a kid, I have worked hard, starting from being in the farm, to sales for sustenance in Bombay to being a banker, but this film made me realise it is real, what my life has been and very similar to the story of this film,” he says.
He adds, “I want to explore every aspect of cinema, I know that. I want to learn. I don’t want to do anything for the sake of it. I developed an interest in filmmaking during the shoot of my upcoming first feature film The Mentor. I saw the process and how each one played an important role, how all of us were involved in the process. I played a Punjabi character. So, turning the Hindi dialogues into Punjabi was an interesting exercise.”

Jun 13, 2026He says that no matter the platform, the trick to good acting is to surprise yourself. “Cinema is cinema, all platforms are equally enticing. They have unique possibilities. I feel people will appreciate it if you do a wow job. The trick is to satisfy yourself and match your self expectations. If you are highly passionate, don’t do it for external validation. It will automatically come,” he says.
