Films have always drawn huge audiences towards it the world over, as they have become an important part of entertainment in everyone's lives. The Indian film industry has grown leaps and bounds over the past few decades and today lists amongst the world's best. Apart from the Hindi film industry, various regional based films have been coming out from their respective industries and have gained major prominence in recent times. The bhojpuri film industry has also been thriving as it has found its niche audience in the country. Prem Rai is a known name in the bhojpuri entertaining space as he has produced many entertaining films which have gone to become blockbusters.
He says that earlier bhojpuri movies were not taken seriously as they were considered to have raunchy content which only appealed to a certain set of viewers. But times have changed now, and this space is also churning out meaningful movies, and it's steady growth of viewer base is enough proof of it. Today these are taken as serious business, the reason their popularity is on a rise. "The industry has grown to a figure of Rs.2,000 crores and is still moving ahead at a fast pace. Talented actors are being introducing who have been breaking fresh ground and creating new milestones. Unbelievably, the highest grossers have been raking in Rs. 10 crores, a figure which was unheard of before," says Prem, who has seen the industry grow from scratch.
According to Prem, film budgets have gone up from the Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore to even touch the Rs 2 crore mark, which is quite impressive. Investors are showing interest in this area which was not considered a profitable playground earlier as many have realized that this industry is here to stay and give results which are amazingly jaw dropping. The fine producer has himself produced some hit movies like Aatankwadi, Chalo Bhag Chale, Prem Kaidi, Aashiq Aawara, Jaaneman, Hindutva, Boss and the most recent one Fasal starring Dinesh Lal Yadav and Amrapali Dubey. He says that the bhojpuri film industry is growing at an exponential pace and will constantly rise in the future owing to its ever expanding viewership.
