Naveen Saini as Bharat in Nishabd on Atrangii/Atrangi channel is an interesting role. The series based on LGBT has been produced and co-directed by Mitu, a known content creator who runs a successful YouTube Channel called Positive Thinkerz.
“I am an actor and as an actor we need to explore all the shades of life so it was in fact quite interesting to be part of such a show. I have blind faith in Mitu. She is an old friend and for me she has some different places in my life, so it's always fun to work with her. Mitu is a fantastic creative director, so I always knew that she would give me a good role to perform,” he says.
June is considered the pride month. And Naveen feels the series is more relevant now. Ask him this is also one of the reasons he gave his nod to the show and he answers, “For me to say yes to the project is just Mitu (laughs). She is the only reason.”
He also opens that the series is also relevant for that fact that it’s high time that conversations around same sex relations should start. “God has made us all and we are now into the 21st century. We have read about Shikhandi in history and know how much we have respected everyone even during earlier days. But, in the past, people forgot our history and have felt ashamed towards this. Now their existence needs to be addressed and they must be given equal rights as they deserve our love and acceptance,” he adds.
A generational shift in programming is being witnessed with makers ready to experiment with new projects. In fact, it is the first time a series like Nishabd is being made for TV. “Haar cheez ki shuruaat kabhi na kabhi to honi hai. I am glad that I have got an opportunity to be a part of this new change from the beginning,” he keeps it short.
