If you want harmony at home, or your place of work, then work on including more plants in your set up, says MahaVastu expert Khushdeep Bansal. He adds that plants play a bigger role than just adding aesthetic appeal to a space.
“In Vastu Shastra, plants play a significant role because they contribute to creating a harmonious environment. They help in balancing the five elements and add an aesthetic appeal to home or office,” he says.
He adds, “Placement of plants is given a lot of weightage in Vastu. For example, placing plants in the east direction of a home or office adds freshness and rejuvenation. However, placing plants in the south-west can lead to relationship issues and problems in marital life. Some plants are considered auspicious and are associated with positive symbolism. For instance, the Money plant is often recommended for attracting wealth and prosperity. Keeping thorny plants inside the house can lead to bitterness in the family members.”

Tulsi is highly revered in Indian culture and is considered auspicious. It is recommended to place it in the northeast direction of the house. Next is the Money plant. Keeping a Money plant in the North direction attracts wealth and prosperity. It is often recommended to place it in the North Direction in a blue vase or bottle. Then, there is Neem tree. Neem is known for its medicinal properties, and it is considered beneficial in Vastu. Planting a Neem tree in your house if you have a garden is excellent. The Palm tree is also important. Placing the Palm tree in the South-East increases the fire element and thus cash flow of the occupants. Peace Lilies and Aloe vera are also essential. Known for their air-purifying properties, both these plants are recommended in North-East, East and East North East to bring peace and harmony.”
He adds, “The Tulsi plant holds great significance in Hindu culture and is considered sacred in many households because it is associated with various deities, especially Lord Vishnu and his incarnations and its leaves are used in the worship of deities.
Tulsi is known for its medicinal properties and is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for various health benefits. It is considered an adaptogen, which means it helps the body adapt to stress and maintain balance.”
