Dhanush has officially announced that the release of Om Chapter 1 has been pushed back from its original date of October 16, 2026. The actor and producer shared this news on September 23, explaining that the film will now debut on a later date.
This decision comes just a day after the highly anticipated Rajinikanth film, Jailer 2, is set to hit theaters. Dhanush expressed that it didn’t feel right to release Om so close to a film featuring the superstar, given the immense respect he holds for Rajinikanth.

Additionally, Dhanush confirmed that Om Chapter 1 won’t be released during Diwali. Suriya's upcoming film, Scene, has already secured its spot for the festive season, and Dhanush acknowledged that their team announced their release first. He emphasized the importance of giving big films enough breathing room, stating that this decision was made with the broader film industry in mind.
