In a dazzling display of compassion and entertainment, the Rotary Club of Mumbai Bhandup orchestrated the inaugural “Rotary Fun Fiesta” from December 15th to 17th, 2023, transforming Bhandup, Mumbai, into a hub of festivity. This event, more than just a celebration, served as a platform to connect communities, raise awareness for various causes, and garner support for the underprivileged through a series of engaging activities.

The Rotary Club of Mumbai Bhandup has long been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged in society. The “Cataract Free Bhandup” campaign, offering free cataract surgeries, stands testament to their commitment. Other ongoing projects include paediatric heart surgeries, tailoring training with a 100% job guarantee, the Pink Auto Project empowering women with auto-rickshaws, and facilitating education loans. The Rotary Fun Fiesta emerged not only as an entertainment extravaganza but also as a means to connect entertainment, families, and the community, fostering awareness and fundraising for these noble causes.
The event, held at the BMC ground next to Pawar Public School, Bhandup West, witnessed the presence of renowned personalities, adding star power to the carnival. Singer Sanjeevani Bhelande, Kunal Kaushal, comedian Ahsaan Qureshi, Dinesh Bawra, Raja Rancho, actor Amar Upadhyay, veteran Marathi and Bollywood actress Smita Jaikar, Sonica Handa, Aleeza Khan, Nishikant Sadaphule, and Mumbai Karaoke Club (Shoma Bannerjee and Jyotika Kotian) were among the luminaries who graced the occasion.

The three-day extravaganza featured a diverse range of programs, ensuring there was something for everyone. From comedy nights to musical evenings and a fashion show by Dr Chatursing Khalsa’s Zen Asia Foundation, models donning outfits designed by Seema Kshirsagar, founder of AIFT, the audience was treated to a variety of entertainment. Playback theatre with Divya Doshi and team added another layer of creativity to the event.
One of the standout moments during Rotary Fun Fiesta was the collaboration between Rotary Club of Mumbai Bhandup, CrossAsyst Infotech Pvt Ltd, and Venue Partner Ms. Rajool Sanjay Patil. Together, they achieved a remarkable feat by creating the 33-ft Tallest Cardboard Christmas Tree on December 15, 2023, at Dina Patil Estate, Station Road, Bhandup West. This feat not only broke records but also secured a place in the World Records, India Book of Records, and Asia Book of Records. The tree, made entirely of cardboard, symbolizes not only festive cheer but also the collective efforts of the community.
President Rtn. Jennifer Isaac and Event Chair Rtn. Natarajan T R spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing the central theme of this year’s Fun Fiesta – aiding the underprivileged. President Rtn Jennifer Isaac expressed satisfaction with the success of the event, citing the tremendous response and participation from the Bhandup community. This achievement has further fueled the Rotary Club of Mumbai Bhandup’s commitment to organizing more such Fun Fiesta events in the future.
