With comedian Jimmy Kimmel set to host the star-studded gala, authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to maintain a secure environment. According to reports, the Los Angeles Police Department has acknowledged the existence of at least one group expressing intentions to disrupt the Academy Awards.

Commander Randy Goddard emphasized the department’s commitment to facilitating a successful event while upholding the First Amendment rights of protesters. He stated, “It’s going to be our goal to ensure that the Academy Awards is successful, that guests can arrive safely and get into the venue. But, also, we are going to try very hard to make contact with the groups as they show up, and lay out the expectation that we as the police are here to support your First Amendment constitutional rights.”
Amidst fears of potential disruptions, law enforcement is prepared to address various scenarios, including demonstrations near the Dolby Theater and potential traffic obstructions. Resources have been mobilized to regulate protests effectively, ensuring they remain within legal bounds and do not pose a threat to the safety of attendees.
To fortify security, the Academy has implemented stringent measures, including the deployment of checkpoints, fences, and approximately 2,000 private security officers at the Dolby Theater.
