Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s festive film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, has hit a bit of a snag just as the New Year rolls in. Even with the holiday boost, this romantic comedy has seen a significant drop in its earnings, hinting at a challenging path ahead at the Indian box office.
On its eighth day, the film is projected to have made around ₹1.30 crore, which is nearly a 15 percent dip from the day before. This decline is surprising, especially since January 1 is usually a strong day for moviegoers. Industry experts are pointing to fewer showings over the weekend, mainly due to new competition from Ikkis, which has affected the film’s screen count and overall momentum.
As a result, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri wrapped up its extended opening week with about ₹31.75 crore net in India. While those numbers might look good at first glance, insiders suggest that aggressive promotional pricing and inflated advance bookings during the opening weekend helped boost those initial figures. The real response from audiences has been much more muted.
Directed by Sameer Vidwans, this rom-com has also been offering Buy-One-Get-One ticket deals since earlier this week, signaling the struggle to attract viewers to theaters. The buzz around the film has been pretty lukewarm, with many viewers expressing disappointment in the content, which has clearly affected its performance during the weekdays.

Another big hurdle for the film has been the unstoppable success of Dhurandhar, which continues to capture screens and audience interest. In this post-pandemic era, romantic comedies are finding it tougher to maintain long runs in theaters, and this film seems to be facing that same uphill battle. Even recent hits in the genre have generally fallen short of expectations.
