"It was interesting to play a woman who was neither completely good nor irrevocably bad," says Shweta Basu Prasad The actor plays a high-profile journalist in Zee Theatre's new thriller 'Gunehgaar' Multi-faceted actor Shweta Basu Prasad started young with films like 'Makdee' and 'Iqbal' but her enthusiasm for unusual roles remains unwavering to date. In recent times, apart from her work in cinema and web shows, she has also taken up clutter-breaking projects like Zee Theatres’ teleplay, ‘Kusum Manohar Lele’, and 'Gudiya Ki Shaadi.' She now appears in Zee Theatre's new cliff-hanger 'Gunehgaar' that is available across top DTH platforms. Explaining why she enjoyed being a part of this unusual story, she says, "Mrinalini is not easy to read and that is what I found intriguing about her. Beyond the veneer of a confident, successful journalist, she is ambiguous in a lot of ways. It was really interesting to play a woman who is neither completely good nor irrevocably bad." Shweta found the progression of the story and her character very engrossing and says, "The story begins when Mrinalini comes to a stranger's house hoping to get a scoop and then begins to suspect that the host may have some nefarious design on his mind. For me, the ebb and flow of conversations between the characters was the crux of the play because how the three of us react to each other, reveals the story bit by bit. During rehearsals, it was very important to get the tone of voice, body language, and reactions right and Gajraj sir, Sumeet and I really worked hard to make the long shots appear seamless." 'Gunehgaar' is a psychological mystery and a study of cause and effect as well as crime and punishment. Directed by Akarsh Khurana. Watch it on Tata Play Theatre, Dish Tv & D2H Rangmanch, and Airtel Theatre.
