Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 is still struggling at the box office as it heads into its second weekend with not much momentum. After a lackluster second Friday, the film managed to pull in about ₹4 crore on Saturday, which sounds impressive with an 80% jump from the day before, but it’s not nearly enough to make up for the losses it’s already faced. After nine days, the sequel has raked in around ₹54 crore nett in India.
The drop from Thursday to Friday was particularly damaging, especially for a film that really needed to keep up a steady pace to stay competitive. With the second weekend expected to wrap up around ₹11 crore, it looks like the movie will finish its run with lifetime earnings between ₹70–75 crore nett. That’s nearly 25% less than the original De De Pyaar De, and when you factor in inflation, the difference is even more pronounced.
Romantic comedies have been having a tough time in the post-pandemic landscape, and this film is no different. While it did have a decent opening, the audience response hasn’t been strong enough to keep it going. Interestingly, despite its struggles, the film has performed better than several other recent titles in the same genre—without even resorting to the “Buy One Get One” ticket deals that have become a common tactic to boost attendance.
So far, the earnings break down like this: the film made ₹47.75 crore in its first week, followed by ₹2.25 crore on its second Friday and ₹4 crore on Saturday, bringing the total to ₹54 crore nett. With rising competition and slowing momentum, the path ahead looks pretty tough.
