Ranbir Kapoor has his hands full with some of the biggest films out there, but it turns out there's another ambitious project on the horizon. Brahmastra 2 is reportedly taking shape, with Ranbir set to reprise his role as Shiva while also stepping into the role of Dev.
Currently, he's immersed in Ramayana Part 2 and is anticipated to wrap up shooting by January 2027. Once that's in the can, he might head straight into Ayan Mukerji's Astraverse. Reports indicate that Brahmastra 2's filming is tentatively slated for April 2027.

Alia Bhatt is also expected to return as Isha, rekindling the charming chemistry audiences loved in the first film. However, this sequel is likely to be much grander than its predecessor. The plot is rumored to dive deeper into the mythology, further expanding the captivating world Ayan crafted with Brahmastra.

Aug 18, 2026One of the most exciting points of discussion involves Deepika Padukone. Rumor has it that the filmmaker is in talks with her for the role of Amruta. While nothing is set in stone just yet, if it all comes together, it would certainly elevate an already star-studded franchise.
For Ranbir, the sequel presents an intriguing challenge. Balancing the roles of both Shiva and Dev means he’ll have to explore two distinct sides of the narrative, rather than just revisiting a familiar character.
Brahmastra was always meant to be more than just a standalone film. The first part hinted at the expansive Astraverse but left many questions unanswered. Now, the sequel faces the tough task of enlarging that universe while keeping the emotional connection that drew audiences to Shiva and Isha intact.
Interestingly, it seems Brahmastra 2 is taking precedence while Dhoom 4 sits on the back burner. With Ramayana also demanding a significant amount of Ranbir's time, the coming years are looking to be incredibly busy for him.
