Mumbai: For Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, bringing an impact isn’t an alternative, it’s a part of her path as a responsible actress, entrepreneur and a climate warrior. Over the years, she’s proven to be someone who’s eager for a world that goes beyond the film sets. On one hand, her movies spark a national dialogue and on the other hand, her activism makes sure that those dialogues don’t wear off after the credits roll.
Climate Warrior: Through her environmental initiative Climate Warrior, Bhumi has created significant awareness surrounding sustainability, conscious consumption and climate action. As a UNDP India advocate, Bhumi has made her voice heard on global levels at Milken Institute Summit, World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Summit 2025 in Geneva, World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, and more. She’s not someone who just engages in conversations, but her hands-on approach to lived situations adds credibility to what she speaks. The actress undertook on-ground relief work in flood-affected regions of India including the flood-affected Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Assam, and Maharashtra and also recently provided relief to Mandi-Kullu disaster victims.
Sustainable fashion advocate: Fashion and sustainability are not always a perfect puzzle fit, but Bhumi is changing that too. She’s bringing a conscious shift to the fast fashion culture by re-wearing outfits, one of it being her mother’s saree paired with a corset. Her choice to re-wear is a solid statement in repurposing heirloom pieces to promote conscious fashion. “I believe in repeating clothes. I repeat clothes all the time,” the actress had said earlier. Surprisingly, she also shares a “pretty much one” wardrobe with her sister!
