From yummy sweets to scrumptious snacks, actor Jason Tham says that good food has a lot to do with Diwali celebrations. The actor, who has been seen in the show Sanjivani as well as films Happy New Year, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, says that he never follows his diet on Diwali.
“If you’re not bingeing delicious food and Indian sweets, you’re not celebrating Diwali wholeheartedly!” he laughs. Talking about his plans for the festival this year, he says, “It’s been two years that I haven’t celebrated Diwali with my family because of the lockdown. For me, Diwali is incomplete without my loved ones. So, I’ve come to Delhi to celebrate it with them this year.”
Diwali has always been special for him. “Diwali for me symbolises the victory of light over darkness like good over evil. Diwali has always been a huge part of my childhood. And I have always been mesmerised by the decoration of lights in every house. It used to feel like it was daytime during the night. Every year, there’s deep cleaning of the house, followed by decoration of diyas, lights and flowers.”

Mar 7, 2026Ask for his outfit that day, Jason says it has to be Indian, adding, “Kurta pyjama is what I will be wearing. I choose my colour according to the festival so if it’s for Diwali, I go for bright colours such as maroon, yellow and orange,” he says.
While the best Diwali memories for him involve him bustin crackers, he doesn’t do that anymore, says the actor. “I used to enjoy bursting crackers with my cousins till I realised that it scares the animals and is really bad for the environment. I stopped after that.”
