Singer Rii has recently come out with a new song titled Aadha Chaand, that has been written by Amit Lakhani, sung and composed by her. The song came right in time for Republic Day as it has a patriotic feel to it.
Talking about the same, Rii says, “About patriotic feelings, I would say the idea of this song came to me from my family as my brother is an army official. I wanted to dedicate this song to all the brothers at the border and their wives. There is light in our lives because someone is standing in the dark at the border for us. Aadha Chaand is a romantic ballad for every living soul out there. The video showcases a beautiful and not so ordinary love story of our army soldiers featuring me and Punjabi movie actor Raj Singh Jhinjar. It has been directed by Dimple Bhullar.”
She adds, “Behind every strong soldier, there is a strong woman. This is so because these ladies have willingly chosen to let their husbands choose the nation over themselves and their progeny, without holding them back from laying down their lives in the battlefield for the motherland. That is a sacrifice potent enough to deserve respect and salute. This song is a representation of love, sacrifice and hope and I am getting very positive feedback from everyone who's heard the song, especially people who love original fresh music. The music video is giving them a very 90’s vibe, simple yet meaningful and pleasing to watch. We shot this song in Punjab, Chandigarh.”

Apr 4, 2026Talking about her previous work, Rii says, “My last release was a party song called Deewane. I am a versatile singer and I like to explore new music genres. I don’t want to fit in that box where artists create the same type of music. I’ve released four songs so far, Judaa directed by Pav Dharia, Phir Mulaqaat featuring Punjabi actor-singer Parmish Verma song is also part of the jukebox of the film Why Cheat India featuring Imran Hashmi. It was my single that got picked by T Series for their film. Then I released Baatein Uski, a romantic ballad written by well-known writer Rashmi Virag and now Aadha Chaand.”
Post pandemic, there are music videos released almost every week and Rii says that this is the best time to be part of the industry. “Music is for everyone. If you think you can do it, you must do it. The prominent faces have larger audiences and influence and it’s easier for labels to pump in their money on them as they know it’s easier to recover the cost, which is fine because it’s a business for them in the end. I have nothing much to say about that. In 2023, I have planned to release 7 songs and I’ve not been able to release maximum music because I am an independent artist and it takes time, effort and finances to be able to invest, create and release music on your own, which is fine as long as I don’t give up. One simple message I want to tell to all the aspiring musicians/singers like me that, don’t think you’re not worth it because a label is not investing in you at this moment. Keep creating and sharing with the world because they anyway chase the ones who’ve already made it on their own,” she says.
