Paridhi Sharma says that today there is more awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ community today. She adds that people are more sensitive as well towards this community.
“Of course, the awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ community have increased over time, and more people are talking about it. More people are sharing their thoughts, opinions, and views on the topic and thanks to the emergence of social media, I think, the awareness has increased,” she says.
She adds, “I think as a society, it is very important to be sensitive towards each other's feelings. Hence, so many movies on LGTBQI have definitely contributed to this very thought of making us understand what exactly the members of this community go through, and how difficult it is for them to make the society understand them, the struggle of accepting themselves and societal objections towards them. So, I think it is very important that people should speak openly about these topics, about the issues and to let everyone live. If a person is an adult, please let them be free to decide how they want to lead their life and what is their choice. I think nobody should have any right to interfere in an adult's life and I think it's important that everybody should live as per their right and their dignity.”

Jun 8, 2026Paridhi says that Indian society was always very accepting in nature. “When we question anything about our Indian society or we kind of tag our Indian society as conservative, we must keep in mind that society has been shaped like this recently. Otherwise, if we look back to ancient times, Indian society was the most progressive society and no other culture valued their women more than the way we did. So, I think we have always been very liberal. And today also, I think, there are many countries that are still objecting to the rights of the LGBTQ community, but India has accepted it and India has given the right integrity to the people who deserve it, which is a good shift overall, globally,” she says.
Freedom is of utmost importance, she says, adding, “I just completely believe that every individual has the right to live their life with utmost dignity and freedom. I think freedom is the core of every individual. So, freedom to live the kind of life they want to live, the freedom to live with the choice of life they want to live, and if any society can successfully make their individual lives as per their choice and right and dignity. I think we are a success as a society. So, it is beautiful if the acceptance or awareness is spreading all across and people are understanding others points of view and being a progressive society. It is so much needed to have an open mindset
