The 22nd Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards 2022, held on December 11, was a grand affair. Actor Karan Singh Chhabra, who was one hosting the grand red carpet, had the celebs in splits with his words and expressions ! He talks about it.
“Being selected to host at the Prestigious Indian Television Academy Awards is an honour. I got the chance to take the audience behind the scenes and we shot the real action, the real madness in our segment called ‘ITA parde ke piche’. The segment that will be shown on the channel’s social media pages will show how each department works behind the camera and how a team of 500 people and 15 departments are needed to pull off an event like this for national television,” he shares
This is not the first time that Karan held a fort as the host. He has hosted in total of 100+ events and 6+ non-fiction shows. Holding such events requires a lot of time and energy. The look and presentation are also of prime importance.

Apr 4, 2026“It’s always a chaos as you never know which celeb is going to walk in at what time. There are chances of multiple entries at the same time as it is not scripted or planned. I remember I was interviewing actor Amruta Khanvilkar when Varun Dhawan arrived. Not to keep the star waiting, I paired both of them together for a fun rapid fire and Varun gracefully agreed,” he says.
About his strengths as an anchor, he adds, “Being spontaneous and having a presence of mind is necessary. Many things are non-scripted and you never know what situation comes your way or what mood is the other person in? Also having good interpersonal skills is an add on.”
The prominent celebrities he interacted with on the day include Huma Quereshi, Neena Gupta, Darshan Kumar, Daisy Shah, Ramesh Taurani, Nia Sharma, Arjun Bijlani among many other achievers from films, web and TV.

Huma Qureshi in between a game said ‘Kitni gandi acting karwa raha hai mere se’ while I asked her to say some dialogues in her Gangs of Wasseypur style (laughs). Recently, mega star Akshay Kumar had to give his solo byte for a channel and the gentleman invited me in his frame and asked me to be with him. I can never forget his gesture.
