From a carefree tomboy to a mysterious daayan, Maitri Bhanushali’s character Tina in Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya on Sun Neo has undergone a fascinating transformation. What started as a bold, adventurous role has now evolved into something far darker and more complex. This dramatic shift in her character has been a thrilling challenge for Maitri, who admits she never expected to take on such a role.
Maitri shares her experience of stepping into the shoes of a daayan for the first time. “When I found out that I had to play a daayan, I was surprised. I didn’t expect it to happen. I was very conscious and nervous about how to perform the role, as I had never played something like this before. My director, who is very creative, guided me on how to approach the character. He gave me many ideas and even scolded me at times, but I appreciated it because it helped me learn. On the first day, I was very nervous and just followed the director's instructions. I was trying to do everything as he said.”
To perfect her portrayal, Maitri didn’t shy away from seeking inspiration. “To get better, I watched reference videos, including the serial Nazar, where I observed Monalisa's portrayal of a daayan, and I also studied the character of Komolika from another show. Watching these shows helped me understand how to play a daayan. By the third day, I started enjoying the role more, and now I’m having a lot of fun with it. There’s still a lot more to explore and do in this character, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”
