Mumbai: Newcomer Vishaal Mohan who will soon be seen in the Ankit Bhadana directorial Yadavji Ki Love Story revealed that he never planned on becoming an actor. While being a part of more than a hundred TV commercials and assisting A list filmmakers on their film projects Vishaal actually dreamt of becoming a director.
Mohan began his career in films while being an apprentice to Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "I started my career as an assistant director with the film Guzaarish under Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir, and later worked as an AD on Aisha. Acting happened to me unexpectedly, even though my original dream was to become a director.”
While two of his films has not seen the light of yet he says now three of his films are lined up for back to back releases, "Now my films are finally releasing, and three movies are coming back-to-back. I truly feel my real journey has begun.”
Elaborating in his character in the film Yadavji ki love story, he stated, “In Yadav Ji Ki Love Story, I play a sincere boy". Speaking about his other two films, Vishaal shared, "In Aashiqui Imtehaan Leti Hai, writer, producer and director Shareeph Mansuri, I portray a government officer. In Mehndi 2, directed by Hamid Ali, my look and character are completely different."
He further revealed what sort of characters he would like to play in the future, "I enjoy roles that push me out of my comfort zone.”
Yadavji ki love story has been riddled in controversies so much so that the matter has been taken up by the supreme court. The bone of contention is the use of the surname 'Yadav' in the title of the film. The president of the Vishwa Yadav Parishad had raised objections on the title of the film stating the title of the film portrays the Yadav clan in a negative light and appealed for the stalling of the release of the film. However the Supreme Court of India ruled that there is nothing negative in the title of the film and one should be a little thick skinned.
The lead actor Vishaal stated, "When the maker gives one any opportunity he makes sure that you are ready for it, I would be hurt if you would call it a controversy, because when a filmmaker or a producer conceives a film, he/she doesn't deliberately want to stir up any controversy but the matter is now in the Supreme court."
Well, as of now we can just hope for the best as far as the film is concerned and becomes a succesful venture for everyone invested in it
