Mumbai: Actress Sheena Chohan addressed the United Nations Headquarters in New York during the annual United for Human Rights Conference, where her special video presentation was showcased on two giant screens before an international audience. A United for Human Rights Ambassador, Chohan used the global platform to bring India’s Constitution to an international audience, highlighting the importance of constitutional awareness and fundamental rights on one of the world’s most influential international stages.
Honoured with the Human Rights Hero Award at the United Nations for helping spread awareness of human rights and equality to more than 120 million people, Chohan also brought together voices from across Indian cinema for the presentation. Featured alongside her were Sonakshi Sinha, Sonu Sood, Raveena Tandon, Imtiaz Ali, Nandita Das, Sanjana Sanghi, Parvathy, Anushka Sen, Karan Tacker, Adinath Kothare, Ruchi Narain, Saket Chaudhary and Shonali Bose, each contributing a message on the importance of rights, equality and education.
The presentation reflected a shared belief that artists have a unique ability to spark conversations, inspire audiences and encourage greater awareness through their public platforms. By bringing together respected actors and filmmakers, Chohan’s United Nations address highlighted how influential voices from the entertainment industry can contribute meaningfully to conversations that resonate far beyond the screen.

*“My message today at the United Nations is simple: Stand Up. Speak Up. Know Your Rights. Because only when you educate yourself and others about basic rights can you stop them from being violated.*
*The Indian Constitution, together with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, protects the fundamental rights that belong to every one of us. When we understand those rights, we are better equipped to protect freedom, uphold equality and strengthen our society. Constitutional awareness is not just knowledge—it is empowerment.”*
Among the participating artists, Sonakshi Sinha spoke about education as the foundation of equality, dignity and opportunity, while Raveena Tandon highlighted the importance of making constitutional literacy a practical part of every child’s education.
