Pushing Buttons Studios, the production house established by renowned actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, is celebrating the selection of their maiden production, "Girls Will Be Girls," for the prestigious South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. The festival, known as one of the largest and most esteemed film festivals globally, is scheduled to take place in Austin, Texas, from March 8 to 17, 2024.
"Girls Will Be Girls" secured a spot in the 'Festival Favourites' section after earning critical acclaim at its world premiere during Sundance. Directed by Shuchi Talati, the film has been hailed as one of the most compelling coming-of-age stories to emerge from India in recent years. At Sundance, "Girls Will Be Girls" received two significant awards: the Audience Choice Award for Best Film and a Special Jury Award for the outstanding performance by lead actor Preeti Panigrahi. Additionally, the film was included in the list of best films at Sundance 2024 curated by Vulture, Variety, and Vogue.
The plot revolves around a 16-year-old girl navigating the challenges of adolescence within the confines of a boarding school. The stellar cast features Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati, Preeti Panigrahi, and Kesav Binoy Kiron in pivotal roles.
