My Birthday Is Incomplete Without My Mom and Dad,” Says Namitaa Sachdeva

Mumbai: Actor and anchor Namitaa Sachdeva  who is currently seen in the play Woh Subha Hum Hi Se Aayegi is someone who believes birthdays are as much about gratitude and blessings as they are about celebrations. As she turns a year older on August 14, the actor opens up about her birthday plans, cherished memories, work commitments and the people who make the day special for her.

Talking about her plans this year, Namitaa says that her birthday celebrations have been relatively low-key because she was unwell. “This year, I was not very well, so I haven’t really planned anything yet. Usually, every year I have a plan for my birthday, but this year it has been a little low-key,” she says. However, she adds that she is looking forward to celebrating properly in the coming week.

For Namitaa, celebrations are incomplete without going out, dancing and spending time with people she loves. “I really enjoy partying on my birthday because you spend every day at home, working, so after work, you should party, dance and just have a good time,” she says. While she enjoys dinners and outings with friends, she admits that she misses having her family around, especially since she lives alone in Mumbai and her sisters are in Delhi. “My friends are also like family sometimes,” she adds.

The actor also follows a few personal rituals every year. Visiting a Gurudwara or mandir, taking blessings from her parents, spiritual guide and mentors, buying new clothes and getting dressed up are all part of her birthday routine. “I don’t like sitting dull on my birthday,” she says with a laugh.

Despite being a birthday girl, Namitaa doesn't mind working on the special day. In fact, she describes herself as a “very workaholic person” and says working makes her feel productive. She adds that she even shot on August 14 this year despite being unwell.

When it comes to gifts, Namitaa fondly remembers the presents she received from her parents. She recalls her mother gifting her a car years ago, calling it one of her most treasured gifts.

But if she could gift herself something today, it would not be materialistic. “I would gift myself a lot of smiles,” she says, adding that life will always have its ups and downs, but “a smile is one thing that should remain constant.” Ultimately, for Namitaa, her parents remain at the heart of her birthday. “My birthday is incomplete without them,” she concludes.
